Iran Women's revolution
I am naive about geo-political topics but the recent Iran revolution caught my attention. May be the first ever revolution initiated by the women for the women. For basic human rights of freedom & choice. To be sovereign. To be able to choose if one wants to cover their hair or follow a religion of choice or roam in the streets without fear! It’s not an issue of one particular region, in so many ways it appeals to me and I am in a quest to find ‘what is freedom’, if we were to birth a new world order. And for that, learning from history is very important. My next guest, Claire Aghassipour, is a true multiculturalist. Born and brought up in Iran, with Iraqi Jew roots, studied International relations in Israel, married to an Englishman, worked in several countries and now living in the Netherlands. She gives a beautiful context to Iran’s history and changing identity needs.
